What is the B.USOC?

B.USOC is a services centre of the Belgian Science Policy (BELSPO)/R&D division. Our mission is to provide operational services for Belgian scientific institutions and space agencies.

Our dedicated engineering and operations teams carry out experiments on board the International Space Station (ISS) and Satellite ranging from the integration of payloads to their in-orbit operation, astronaut training, processing and dissemination of the scientific data obtained.

Belgian Operations Center gets the ISS rotated

solar For the very first time, the International Space Station (ISS) will be rotated for science objectives in December 2012. It was the Belgian Operations Center B.USOC that managed to get this scoop. B.USOC is responsible for the SOLAR platform, which is mounted on the exterior of the European Columbus Module. SOLAR carries three Sun observing instruments, of which one, SOLSPEC, was developed at the Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy (BISA) in collaboration with the French LATMOS.
